Bachmann Construction proudly led the restoration of the historic Sauk County Clock Tower, a beloved landmark in downtown Baraboo. Originally constructed in the early 1900s, the clock tower had long stood as a symbol of civic pride and architectural heritage. By 2023, time and weather had taken their toll, prompting Sauk County to initiate a comprehensive restoration to preserve the structure for future generations.
The project required a delicate balance of historical preservation and modern construction techniques. Bachmann’s team began with a full structural assessment, identifying areas of deterioration and implementing stabilization measures to ensure long-term integrity. The clock mechanism, a centerpiece of the tower, was carefully refurbished and returned to full working order, restoring its role as a functional and symbolic timekeeper for the community.
Exterior masonry was meticulously cleaned and repaired, with special attention paid to preserving original materials and architectural details. Lead-based paint abatement was conducted in accordance with safety regulations, protecting both workers and the public. The restoration also included rebuilding access points and entryways to improve safety and usability without compromising the tower’s historic character.
Throughout the project, Bachmann Construction worked closely with Sauk County Building Services, maintaining transparency and alignment with community goals. The result is a revitalized clock tower that honors its past while standing strong for the future—a testament to Bachmann’s commitment to craftsmanship, preservation, and civic partnership.
This restoration reflects our dedication to enhancing Wisconsin’s built environment through thoughtful, high-quality work. We’re honored to have played a role in preserving one of Baraboo’s most iconic structures.
