Bachmann Construction’s remodel of Robinia Courtyard in Madison, Wisconsin, stands out as a showcase of thoughtful design and craftsmanship. The project transformed a multi-space restaurant facility into a vibrant and inviting destination, centered around a spacious 3,400-square-foot courtyard. This outdoor area became the heart of the complex, offering a unique dining experience that blends natural elements with urban sophistication.
The renovation included custom casework and high-end finishes that reflect Bachmann’s attention to detail and commitment to quality. The courtyard itself was designed to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing, with features that support year-round use and enhance the ambiance for patrons of the three distinct venues housed within the Robinia complex: A-OK Coffee, MadisonTap, and Jardin.
One of the most notable aspects of the remodel was the creative reuse of architectural elements. For example, a historic vault door—originally used to store furs—was preserved and integrated into the interior design of A-OK Coffee, adding character and a sense of history to the space. This decision exemplifies Bachmann’s ability to honor the past while creating spaces that feel fresh and modern.
The project earned Bachmann Construction recognition at the Build Wisconsin Awards, where it won first place in the commercial renovation category. It was also celebrated in local design circles, including a nod from In Business magazine’s Commercial Design Awards.
