Rick is known for his comprehensive knowledge of the construction industry, his exceptional project management skills, and his ability to complete jobs on time and within budget. Rick has demonstrated leadership, integrity, and innovation on many of Bachmann Construction Company’s projects throughout the City of Madison and State of Wisconsin.

Awards and Achievements

  • 2009 Historic Preservation Award through the Madison Trust for Historic Preservation

  • The Golden Trowel Award from the American Institutue of Architects (AIA) 2002

Historic Structures

  • Olin House: Scope included the renovation and restoration of the Olin House, a prominent University of Wisconsin landmark, and the Chancellor’s residence. Exterior work included tuckpointing masonry surfaces, repairing windows and doors, and reconstructing the east porch. The basement was overhauled to include kitchen support space, new HVAC equipment, pumps for the new geothermal system, restrooms, and an office for the house manager. Interior work included a complete kitchen relocation, asbestos removal, second and third floor remodeling, decorative plaster moldings stripping and repair, and a four story elevator installation.
  • 108 Webster Street: Scope of work included removal of 1950’s vintage façade and restored to the original brick façade and the installation of large, historic replica windows.
  • 202 State Street: Scope of project included the removal of the existing façade, addition of another floor, and the addition of a new stone façade. The stone that was used in the project was salvaged from the MG&E building that was torn down when the Overture Center was built.
  • 301 Blount Street: This was the conversion of the International Harvester Tractor building to new office space. Demolition of the interior was done to bring back the original 1890’s construction. The building has been added to the National Historic Register.
  • Catfish River Antiques: Scope of work included the restoration of deteriorated early 1900’s roof structure.
